INTELLECT
Intellect is seated in the neo-cortex, and is most associated with the head center. Though the mind is where the body’s supercomputer is located, it is receiving automatic impulses and directions from all parts of the body. It is also key to understanding your programming and reprogramming.
INTUiTION
Intuition is located at the emotional or heart center of the human body and is sent to the head through the limbic brain. The limbic brain is where our emotions are processed and make decisions. Often overlooked in the Western world, emotions are a powerful motivator. Disregard at your own peril.
INSTInCT
Instinct is located in the hara or gut brain of the human body. In the enneagram world, all three instincts – self preservation, sexual and social – are located in the gut or belly brain. These primary instincts roughly correspond to Maslow’s hierarchy: basic food clothing shelter first, sexual/procreation next, and social interconnection last.
